TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel, where the functionality of the airport environment and contemporary design fuse into a vibrant blend. Developed by WING Zrt. and Budapest Airport, I am bringing you this 167-room project straight from the vicinity of Terminal 2. As Hungary's second TRIBE hotel, I was genuinely excited to undertake its complex hotel photography following my excellent experience at TRIBE Stadium.

The TRIBE concept is built on the rhythm of modern travelers: smart design without unnecessary frills. The brand follows the principle of "accessible luxury," which in practice means prioritizing the community experience and premium materials over rarely used extra services. During the professional interior photography, it was highly apparent thatthe ground-floor area serves as a dynamic social hub and co-working zone in one, while the rooms represent strict ergonomics and clean aesthetics. It is an objective, functional, yet visually compelling package.

Directly connected to the existing ibis Styles hotel, the building's form was harmonized with the dynamics of the airport by the Aspectus Architect team—building on the original sketches of the late László Szerdahelyi, with the collaboration of József Pesti, Márton Nagy, and Zsanett Lihi. As an architectural photographer, it was particularly exciting to capture the strictly divided facade and the large, specially soundproofed glass surfaces that make the view of the runways an integral part of the interior space. The robustness of the structure, executed by SWIETELSKY Magyarország Kft., creates a sharp yet harmonious contrast with the modernity of the interiors.

The interior design concept, which focuses on the logical guest flow of the transit zones and the comfort of the communal spaces, was created by the este'r partners office (Eszter Radnóczy, Csilla Szabó, and their co-designers). In spaces combining darker tones and bold, vivid splashes of color, the finest compositional opportunities were provided by the art elements that introduce uniqueness into the functional order. Special focus in the photographs was given to the contemporary moving-image installations by Estonian artist Virgo Haan, as well as the Zsolnay "csőkutya" (tubular dog) ceramics featured in the rooms. The spaces have a distinct rhythm: from the naturally lit, bright ease of the TRIBE Table restaurant, we gradually transition to the more elegant, focused visual world of the 7th-floor panoramic Skybar, which also provided ideal conditions for clean food photography and gastronomy photography.

This building is not merely another transit hotel, but a highly premium, sustainable, BREEAM-certified contemporary extension of the airport infrastructure. I would like to thank the partners for their trust in allowing me to create the interior design photography, gastronomic, and brand imagery for this complex and visually definitive project.

There are projects that require extensive planning and organization, involving a large crew and tons of props... and then there are the projects that are made great by pure spontaneity. 

I spent a long day at Mercure Korona. We started early shooting breakfast, and captured the new Winestone menu in the afternoon, but we had a bit of "downtime" between 10 AM and 12 PM, so we thought we’d make good use of it. Over coffee, Tóth Kata and I brainstormed creative photo ideas that would be both imaginative and on-brand for the hotel. Suddenly, it hit us: let's take the throne from the photo corner out to iconic spots in the neighborhood and shoot some Insta-story-ready images. Fifteen minutes later, we were out on the streets with our spontaneous but enthusiastic team, and during a walk of just over an hour, we created the images below.

Situated at the foot of Buda Castle within a World Heritage site, this building is a defining landmark of contemporary Hungarian architecture. The recently opened Leon Hotel & Lounge represents a renewal of both function and visual identity, all while respecting the existing architectural framework.

Architectural Heritage and Structural Transformation

The character of the building is defined by the original frame designed by Péter Sugár and László Benczúr (Radius B+S) and completed in 2007, as well as the interactive glass facade noted by the Szövetség ’39 creative group. This facade structure, following the undulation of the Danube, has remained an organic part of the streetscape to this day.

During the project, the interior spaces were stripped back to the structural shell to implement a total of 2,260 m² of useful space and a new spatial organization concept on a plot of just 531 m² across eight levels. The construction is the work of Market Építő Zrt. while project management was provided by Spányi Partners having to create premium quality amidst tight city center organizational circumstances.

Interior: Generative Art in the Space

The central element of the interior design concept is the fusion of digital art and physical space. The visual world of the interiors was defined by media artist David Szauder who reinterpreted the historical and architectural memories of the district by involving artificial intelligence (AI).

• Surfaces: The wallpapers and carpet patterns of the corridors and rooms are not repeating templates but generative artworks related to the “Glitch in the City” series, in which textures and details of the Buda Castle appear in abstract form.
• Rooms: The furniture of the Hillside and Riverside View rooms, operating with restrained pastel and earth tones, serves the visual balance of the panorama and the digital graphics.

Communal Spaces: Jade Matcha and Leon Café

concept was placed. The spatial design follows the “bold contemporary” direction: the dominance of chrome surfaces and clean forms creates a high-tech, cooler aesthetic. This contrast between metallic material usage and the green of the matcha forms a decided visual counterpoint against the more narrative, textured character of the rest of the hotel. You Hotel Budapest – Handwritten Collection

As an interior photographer, whenever I enter a new location, my first step is always observation. I don’t reach for the camera first; instead, I "read" the space. The lines, the interplay of light, the convergence of textures, and the building’s very "breath." In the case of You Hotel Budapest – Handwritten Collection, this breath exuded a cocoa-scented history, even as my eyes were already drawn to the brand-new, vibrant design elements. I bring you this project from Szentkirályi Street.

Stühmer Heritage in an Art Deco Guise

The building at 8 Szentkirályi Street is no average downtown property: it was the legendary Stühmer chocolate factoryand headquarters. Designed by Ferenc Kende, the Art Deco building was constructed in 1928. Stühmer csokoládégyár és székház. A Kende Ferenc által tervezett, Art Deco stílusú épület 1928-ban épült.

A D55 Architect Office approached the building with respect: during general planning, they preserved the heritage façade, while the inner courtyard was reimagined in a contemporary style with yellow and grey tones. The contrast between the exterior cladding of the building—reborn through the execution of Swietelski Magyarország Kft. and the modernity of the interior spaces forms the visual backbone of this series.

The Handwritten Collection brand is characterized by a lack of "cookie-cutter design"; every hotel possesses its own distinct personality. Here, that personality is a fusion of youthful energy and the industrial past.

In the lobby, the concept envisioned by Studio Petór (who prepared the permitting plans for the change of function) and the French Atelier Tropique (interior design) immediately grabbed my attention. Expanded metal railings and exposed concrete/steel structures guide the eye, while pastel and vivid colors alternate. The space possesses a unique rhythm: the natural lighting of the restaurant transitions gradually into the edgier, neon atmosphere of the bar.

Among the 94 rooms, the most exciting for me as a photographer were those with a unique layout where the bathroom was elevated above the room level, thereby enhancing the sense of space. I particularly enjoy photographing rooms with few empty wall surfaces. At You Hotel Budapest, these elements are not just about design, but also function. And speaking of unique elements, the building even features a fully equipped cinema room.

The Esnée Familybrought their own "YOU Hotels" brand to Budapest with a strategic twist. This is the first property in Hungary to open under the Accor Handwritten Collection brand, while operations are managed by Accent Hotels Thank you for the trust in allowing me to photograph the first joint project of two of my valued partners.

What a day in Tokaj-Hegyalja!

I have been working with the Minaro team since the very opening. Our collaboration began with shooting the hotel’s interior photos. Over the years, in addition to interiors, we have done several cocktail and food photography sessions, as well as portrait and branding shoots. 

It has always been particularly important to them that the outstanding gastronomic standard they provide is reflected in matching visual quality. 

On several occasions, we have photographed award-winning cocktail concepts and István Csorba’s (Head of Culinary) wonderful dishes. (You can find all of these among the food photos).

During one of these food shoots, Dana (Dana Janigova, GM) asked us to create a cool, bold branding shoot that reflects the hotel's style features and the surrounding area—Tokaj-Hegyalja—but breaks away from the often tired clichés of hotel photography.

A mottó: Pali, go crazy!!

We managed to put together a super efficient and creative team with models Bianka Bódis, Vanessa Nagy, and Dániel Megyeri, makeup artist Mirella Farkas, and of course, Sári’s indispensable styling help.

The iconic building complex in the heart of Debrecen has opened a new chapter in its history. Hotel Lycium has undergone more than just a renovation; it has completely changed its character, becoming the first rural hotel in Hungary to join the Accor Group’s exclusive Handwritten Collection As a photographer, it was a special experience to document how the clean, modernist architectural heritage meets the cozy yet vibrant world of an "imaginary art collector."

The Concept: A Gallery Brought to Life

The interior design concept was dreamed up b KOMP Design Studio and its lead designer, Krisztina Fülöp The vision was clear: to break away from the standard hotel atmosphere and create a space that is both elegant and personal—as if stepping into the home of a world-traveling art collector.

The details captured in the photos reinforce this duality:

• The Lobby: The long reception desk, which immediately catches the entering guest's eye, is a main element of the lobby (and a personal favorite of mine). It creates a perfect harmony, separating the hotel's functional spaces from the Atelier restaurant and the Palette Lounge Bar.
• Play of Textures Ribbed wall claddings evoke classic columns in a modern guise, while the hard architectural forms are softened by plush textiles and upholstery.

Spaces and Lights

During the photoshoot of the 92 rooms and communal spaces (such as the Atelier restaurant and the Palette Lounge Barthe greatest inspiration came from the harmonious use of color and natural materials. The pastel shades dominating the spaces and the large, custom-made headboards in the rooms not only suggest comfort but also create visually organized, soothing compositions. From a technical perspective, the biggest challenge was creating a harmonious balance between the natural light flooding in from the massive glass surfaces and the artificial lighting of the restaurant.

The decorations, accessories, books, and artworks filling the hotel with life offer a subtle nod to the neighboring MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art.

Architectural Heritage in a Modern Guise

Although the interior has been completely renewed, the building respects its roots. The complex, integrated with the Kölcsey Centre, was originally designed by Ybl Prize-winning architect András Kováts in 2006. The current renovation (managed by Szinerty Kft.) did not mask this modernist heritage but rather placed it into a new dialogue with the "handwritten" uniqueness of the interior design.
